About

The Nyanza Reproductive Health Society (NRHS) is registered under the Kenyan Societies Act and was initiated when the UNIM (Universities of Nairobi, Illinois and Manitoba) randomized controlled trial of male circumcision for reduction of HIV incidence began. Today, UNIM is one project of NRHS along with the Kisumu Initiative for Positive Empowerment (KIPE), Male Circumcision Project, and Partners in Reproductive Health (PIRH).



Vision

The Nyanza Reproductive Health Society (NRHS) envisions a world where vulnerable individuals and communities are not only empowered to define their own needs and goals, but also have the capacity to meet those needs and achieve the goals they have set for themselves.



Mission Statement

NRHS exists to promote health and quality of life where vulnerable individuals and communities in Kenya through research, evidence-based programming, capacity building, advocacy, and education.



Core Values/Principles

  1. NRHS views people and communities not as passive beneficiaries of service and programmes but as active partners and rights holders empowered to define personal objectives and build better futures.
  2. NRHS believes in and promotes accountability, integrity, participation, and inclusion as core guiding principles for its projects and activities.
  3. NRHS believes that sound research and empirical evidence are the basis for effective programming.
  4. NRHS is committed to providing and maintaining a respectful work environment free of discrimination.
